"In America, the media elects and defeats our political leaders.
And the media is owned by only a few people."Vzeye Quote
The fundamental problem with our democracy is political corruption.
The root of this political corruption is the skyrocketing cost of political campaigns.
The reason political campaigns are so expensive is because the cost of television advertising.
Therefore, the big media companies (television & radio) are profiting from America's political
corruption and our elected political leaders are too corrupt, or too afraid, to pass legislation
to stop this growing problem.
Our political candidates are being forced to raise huge fortunes in campaign contributions
so they can get their faces in front of the American people.
It is this high cost of television advertising that has made political campaigns so expensive
and has turned our political leaders into two-faced sycophantic money whoring beggars.

I will agree that the media makes or breaks a political candidate, but the "media" doesn't cast the votes. Sometimes I like to daydream about how many lives around the world could be saved... if all that money wasn't poured into political campaigns and politicians' pockets; if instead it was used to help the poor in our own country; if it were actually put to a good use someday. Yeah, I've been a liberal tree-hugging hippie idealist at heart all my life.
But I fully agree, the whole system is corrupt; unfortunately, the people who can change it are also the people who profit from it.

I beg to differ ... they're not beggars, the K Street gang is more than willing to "donate" and the pols can't say no... to them, anyway! I saw a freshman congresscritter in the news say that his priority was not to get re-elected, but to serve his constituents to the best of his abilities. I wonder how long before that changes, but it seems to me his first allegiance, once elected, should be to country-- and his second should be to his constituents. They're not always the same thing, unfortunately! Still

I'm so sick of the bickering between the liberal democrats tax cheats and the conservative republicans adulterers, time to put aside partisan politics, and put your country before your party, both party's are guilty of this! yes the media can boast or trash a candidate, We have ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS, THE BBC,MSNBC,The new york times, HBO,ACORN, Disney, Hollywood, john stewart, the view, move on.org, media matters & GEORGE SOROS (billionare) pulling strings on the left & FOX,RUSH, Michael Savage and AM pulling strings on the right, but broken promises made by the ones who run for office are to blame also, I'm a conservative who gave obama a chance, because he said no more partisan politics, he will have transparency (yeah right), they will read the bills (yeah right) fiscal responsibilty (yeah right)unemployment wont go above 8% if we act now and spend a trillion (yeah right) no earmarks (yeah right)I had a gut feeling that we was telling the people what they wanted to hear to get elected! McCAIN WOULD OF BEEN THE SAME! IF YOU WANT CHANGE WE NEED TO SHRINK BIG GOVERNMENT! ADAM MEDIEROS THE HABIT
